Katherine Baxter 表示，当她还是个孩子的时候，就被俯瞰世界的城市景观深深吸引，这样的视觉角度，也正是她设计地图的灵感所在。绘製地图时，是一个需要耗费数小时以细心地按比例组合构成且标记创作的过程。

就像她在插画设计时，偏爱使用的传统绘图方法一样。身处数码时代的Katherine，同样也会使用电脑进行着色并且创作数字化文件。但是她的激情仍在于放大镜之下的纸上手绘步骤。儘管针状的画笔就像傲慢的大人物一般，让人难以驾驭。
